SESSION 26: A SONG

SESSION 26: A SONG
STING: THE SHAPE OF MY HEART

This is a beautiful and simple song sang by a real artist:

Lyrics:
'SKRMotionPictures' says in one of his comments: 'the song is about a man who is a master card-player but plays to find some divine, almost spiritual meaning to the probabilities of the game. He is so involved in the game that he is almost emotionless, and this affects his relationships aversely."And if I told you that I loved you, you'd maybe think there's something wrong.."He isn't a man used to expressing his feelings, but he wants to. However he knows that he is only a man of one "face", which is the "mask" he hides behind, his poker-face.'

This song belongs to the album 'Ten Summoner's Tales', which is the fourth solo studio album by the rock musician Sting. The title is a combined pun of his given name, Gordon Sumner, and a character in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, the summoner. Released in 1993, it explores themes of love and morality in a noticeably upbeat mood compared to his previous release, the introspective 'The Soul Cages'.
This album contained two U.S. hits; "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" and "Fields of Gold".
Ten Summoner's Tales was nominated for the Mercury Prize in 1993. In 1994, it was nominated for five Grammy awards, winning Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, Best Male Pop Vocal Performance ("If I Ever Lose My Faith in You") and Best Long Form Music Video. It lost Album of the Year and Record of The Year for the above mentioned song.

  1. Songs or poems usually makes you think just listening to or reading a few words. Maybe this was not the point of the song but it could be comparing life with a card game in which although many people can play very well, they are not satisfied because they want to know more, they want to know the key.
