SESSION 19: EXERCISES FOR DISCUSSION AND FINAL TASK

SESSION 19: EXERCISES FOR DISCUSSION AND FINAL TASK

EXERCISES FOR DISCUSSION: for further investigation you can have a look at the following pages and blogs:

After reading these articles, think about how ageing population affects Spain considering the economical crisis we are in, and how this problem is going to influence on our younger generations.

PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL:

THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS:

FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION.

SECONDLY, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS.
THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.

FINAL TASK:

HERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO IN ORDER TO COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.

Write a composition and leave it in the blog as a comment to Session 19, I will edit it in the blog so that everybody can learn from other people´s opinions.
  • 'Working beyond the retirement age is the best solution to the problem of the ageing population.' Express your opinion.

1 comment:

  1. Population and future are a hard dilemma to solve because the demographic pyramid is changing its usual shape for the first time in the history and it is not wider at the bottom than on the top, creating uncertainty about some question as economy or pensions.

Those changes are not the same in all the countries, on the one hand rich countries as Western Europe ones, USA or Japan have a low birth rates and their population are getting steadily older and no one knows who is going to work to support their pensions and necessities.

On the other hand poor countries and emergent economics still have an enormous birth rate what makes their population to emigrate and try to find a better life abroad.

What will happen in the future? Nobody knows, but one thing is sure, things are not going to be the same as they were in the past.

Maybe we have to work until we were eighty.
