PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL. THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS: FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION, SECONDLY YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS. THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.
THERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO AND THIS WAY YOU WILL COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU MUST IMPROVE WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.
WRITING:
Write a composition of not more than 180 words and leave it in the blog as a comment to Session 2, I will edit it in the blog so that everybody can learn from other people´s opinions
WRITE YOUR OPINION ABOUT BARACK OBAMA AND HIS IMPACT ON THE WORLD.
I don't know if this is the place to write it but I'll dare to do it. You can punish me later if I did it wrongly, Roxanne :).
ReplyDeleteBARACK OBAMA AND HIS IMPACT ON THE WORLD.
Nobody likes wars (i.e. Irak), nobody likes to know that their country is not respecting human rights in certain prisons (i.e. Guantanamo) but all that is not important as long as you feel the threat of terrorism on you and on your family. You'd rather keep the enemy away by any mean because of the possibility of being killed by it (i.e. twin towers). So, after some years without terrorism inside the USA, having the preassure of the press and suffering an economical depression, the image of George W. Bush is the one of a failure.
The same thing happening for a long period of time is always a tiring staff. So, what if a new and fresh breeze arrive promising a change, a believe, a dream ("come on Boss (BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN), sing it again!") seeming to be the best representation of the colour people, "latinos" and so on?. He will be voted in the same way that two plus two are four :) (Spanish saying). Let's be realistic. He can't change everything just because that wouldn't work. The system is too complex and rooted to be changed, but time will show what his actions get.
Good night and good luck (ZP saying xD)
I’m not very well documented about the subject: I didn’t read any of the US President’s books, nor I followed his last two years political career. If anyone of us tries to track the world affairs just following the news on TV or the Internet, the view will be so biased, so oriented by the daily agenda: “What will be the new President’s first reaction to the Middle East crisis? “This “ or “That” is the question the world should think about. Nothing exists out of the frame.
ReplyDeleteFrom my modest point of view it’s important to look around the rest of the landscape: economic crisis for instance; no doubt it’s a very important threat, maybe the most global right now, but what do people who own less than one dollar a day think about this? Maybe they’re the true “experts” about crisis.
Let’s give Obama the first one hundred days before we form a judgment. By now, I’ve heard a lot of words I love: hope (over fear), change, chance, freedom … I like the tune.
