PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL:

THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS:

FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION.
SECONDLY, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS.
THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.

FINAL TASK:

HERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO IN ORDER TO COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.

Write a composition and leave it in the blog as a comment to Session 1, I will edit it in the blog so that everybody can learn from other people´s opinions.
  • Tourism is fundamental for the economy of a country. Express your opinion on all the possible ways countries have to encourage tourism.

2 comments:

  1. There is no doubt that tourism has become an important economic resource for most of the countries, Spain is one of the best example. In the last fifty years, that have caused that countries have to encourage tourism in order to get more money. This encouragement has created new possibilities to know the world and a wide range of places to travel to. New and cheaper ways of travelling have made possible that not only rich people can afford have lovely holiday in a distant paradise.

The tourism boom has a significant, and not wholly beneficial, impact in the world: enormous constructions newly built in places which have environmental value, artificial tourist attractions, overexploited and overcrowding tourism places, more taxes, etc.

Terrorism has made things get worse because there are a lot of new rules and controls a tourist has to accept if he want to go abroad or even in your own country. So, for example, new scanners in the airports can show you totally naked.

But the truth is that tourism is almost a necessity for a citizen in the 21st century and despite all this disadvantages, people still will continue travelling.

  2. Tourism is a major source of income for non-industrialized countries with a low level of industrial development. This implies that these countries should pay special attention to this sector in order to restore their balance of payments with other countries.

But for countries like USA, a fee to foreigners wishing to visit the country, it must not provoke a big departure from its GDP, despite the impact it may receive its tourism industry.

For countries genuinely interested in promoting its tourism industry, this should develop with a totally sustainable project, so they can have a source of income in a stable, growing and sustainable.

That is the reason that the bid of these countries should not pass by construction speculation, but it would be necessary to invest time and effort on sustainability issues.
