m. Do you think the people that want to get informed about the latest news choose TV or other means of communication?
n. Are there any positive things you see in watching TV?

PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL:

THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS:

FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION.

SECONDLY, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS.

THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.

FINAL TASK:
HERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO AND THIS WAY YOU WILL COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU MUST IMPROVE WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.
WRITING:
Write a composition of not more than 180 words and leave it in the blog as a comment to Session 13, I will edit it in the blog so that everybody can learn from other people´s opinions. Choose one of the two following options:

1. "TELEVISION IS THE MOST POWERFUL MEANS OF COMMUNICATION AND MANIPULATION" Express your opinion.

2. Write a letter to the Director of Channel 1 (TVE 1) and tell him what you think of this channel and its programmes.

4 comments:

  1. Is Internet a parallel world?

More than play games children use internet in order to visit social networking. Nowadays, it is almost compulsory to have your own profile in Tweeety, Facebook, etc if you want to be popular. Then, we have think about the succes of this sort of parallel world. In my opinion, there are two different topics we must study.
The first part is that people who is using this programmes do not have to say the truth, they can create their own parallel world , they can lie about their ages, size, looking, etc. They have no limits in order to be they person they will to be but not the person they actually are.
On the other side, we can understand that this kind of relationship make children feel safer than the real world. When they are using social networking such as Facebook, tweety, etc, they are at home and then they won’t be hurted or punished because they are hidden behind their false profile.
We might understand as a contradictory fact that children use social networking in a frenetic way, but they are cutting themselver off from the real relationships with real people, however we can find an explanation based on the reasons previosly explained.

  2. Dear Director,

I am writing in response to your current programmes. There has been much debate about what the part of a public TV is and how it can become in a real service for our country and our society, remembering that public TV is paid for the citizens.

I would like to say to you that I know that other channels need to produce benefits and need to pay attention in it. However, a public TV should be careful about its contents because they had to be a perfect example of which must be our ideal of a society. And I would like to make a question: Which is your model of society that you would like to show as every day?

To conclude, I wish my demand were taken into account and , in addition to that, you should revise your children’s programmes to start having winds of change, and remember that a public TV has a duty to its viewers.

    Yours faithfully

    José Luis R

  3. Competition among telly channels
    were expected to bring
    more quality and amusement
but that's not what I see.

    Thousands of soap operas,
    tons of ads,
    therefore to see that crap
we need to have real guts

    Pay per view tv
    is always an option
    but unless your are millionaire
    you won't play that function

    will all that balance?
    what has Internet to do?
I think you'd better listen to Maria Callas
otherwise you'll suffer a "Déjà vu"

A nice chat with all of you
I'm glad to enjoy and spend
I'm talking like a sentenced man
    who is in fact innocent

For the parents to educate their children
there's no clear nor right method
just empathy from the very beggining
allowing them to see "los teleñecos"

    Things will turn to right
    from blue to red
so don't worry any more and
    therefore this is a farewell

  4. In my opinion our world is constantly changing and new technologies are a good example of this. Although these changes usually are thought for humanity advantage, also it is true new problems accompany them. Maybe the most intelligent thing would be to try to avoid the wrong side of technologies, making good laws which protect our children and improving our educational level so that we can make the most of them.

For example, this evening I have been helping my daughter with her homework and I have looked for and found on the internet answers to her questions, you have all what you want and you feel as you had the power in your hands, it’s wonderful.

I wouldn’t like renounce the internet, TV, etc. just because they can cause some dangerous situations. If we talk about cars, nobody would ban them because of traffic accidents, people only want drivers to comply with traffic rules.
