SESSION 21: TEXT FOR WEDNESDAY 7th MARCH

Hi followers,

This week we will repeat the same topic of Session 20. Read the text in Session 20 and do the exercises, you have the key to correct yourselves.

  1. Evidently, a direct connexion exists between mind and body and the latter is a reflection on the former, so although if somebody wants to feel good should take care of both, I would give more importance to our mind.

    Nowadays, science in general and medicine in particular have had a spectacular advance which has let to have a very good knowledge of our body. We can find lots of medicines, treatments, sports, natural habits, etc which are considered healthy when we use or practices them, but even knowing a lot, a long way left to run.

    Talking about our mind, the knowledge is not so important and there are many dark zones to discover in this area. Experts know our mind is a kind a machine which runs with electric impulses and chemical reactions that are not so tangible as our physical characteristics.

    This difference between the knowledge of our mind and our body makes us consider that our behaviour, personality or character depend almost completely of our will but in comparison there are some aspects of our body we assume that cannot be changed, for example, your height.

    To complicate more the things, some scientist and even some cultures think that our digestive system is our second brain, in fact there are millions of neurons on it, so maybe we should say healthy mind and stomach, healthy body.

  2. I have never understood how there are many people who are not worried about their health, to be healthy it is not necessaryly be fit but is indispensible have a normal o correct weight. In my opinion is not logical, that some people want to put on weight only for beat a record, they don´t think about the great amount of diseases they can suffer as a result of their size, especially heart problems.
    Although is true, there are many people who have problems such as derivatives of thyroid and they can´t be fit or is pretty dificult for them lose weight, however from my point of view, there are more people who have overweight because they want it, the problem is not only the amount of food they eat but also the kind of food, almost always fast food or food with a large quantity of fat.
    Perhaps as the topic says "mens sana in corpore san", the problem of this kind of people is that their minds are not very healthy, for this reason they neglect their body. I consider the first step for these people, before even start a diet, is put in order their ideas.

  3. Nowadays, everybody is worried about their physical appearance and their health. These thoughts sometimes lead people to do the most different things in order to improve either of them.


    First of all, lots of people try doing different methods to lose weight. Many times, people think that losing weight is the only thing they can do to get healthy, so for that reason, difficult healthy problems appear instead. For example, anorexia nervosa is a dangerous illness which affect an outnumber of women, although men are being affected by this illness lately as well.


    Secondly, diet is another way to get fit, so we can think that attending to some clinics which miraculous diets are thought in, we are going to feel well, despite being the reality completely different since these diets avoid important element our body needs to keep a good balance inside. That is the reason why many people finish seriously sick because they take the wrong way to have a healthy life style.


    On the other hand, the more well balance you are, the more opportunities you will have to get healthy. Having a correct diet, in which you have to eat from carbohydrates to fat and including proteins too, and all of them in an appropriate measure, is the best way you can be fed. Besides, exercise is really important too, although it must be practiced without obsession and also without force your body a lot to avoid damages in your back, muscles, etc. It is known that you do not need to attend to Olimpic Games to get fit and healthy.


    To sum up, in my opinion, the main part of our body is the brain, so if you are well balance and you organize your life style properly, you will be able to be an elderly in perfect conditions and also you will be able to enjoy yourself the life a lot when you are really old.
