PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL:
THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS:
FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION.
SECONDLY, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS.
THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.
FINAL TASK:
HERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO IN ORDER TO COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.
- Express your opinion about Singing Competitions and Reality Shows on TV
- Write a letter of application to a Competition on TV, describing your abilities and why you think you should be chosen.
In principle, I am not against the possibility that a TV program shoots an unknown singer to fame, above all if this singer is a good one. On the contrary, I do not like situations in which TV programs makes their own idols forgetting if they are truly good artist. Many of these programs are more like a reality show where it is more important how contestants are than how they sing.
ReplyDeleteAnother problem appears when the winner becomes in a good business because of his or her fame and he or she gets a great economical support behind him or her, depriving other singers of having any opportunity to achieve a little piece of fame.
In Spain all of us know ‘Operación Triunfo’ and could see a lot of young singers who become very important for a short period of time, but most of them have been easily forgotten.
