PREPARING A DISCUSSION IS FUNDAMENTAL:

THIS MUST BE DONE IN TWO DIRECTIONS:

FIRST, YOU NEED TO LEARN NEW VOCABULARY AND EXPRESSIONS THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO USE FOR THE DISCUSSION.

SECONDLY, YOU HAVE TO PREPARE THE TOPIC BY LOOKING UP INFORMATION IN THE INTERNET, BOOKS, ENCYCLOPAEDIAS.

THIS WAY YOU WILL FEEL MUCH MORE CONFIDENT AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL HAVE MUCH MORE TO TALK ABOUT.

FINAL TASK:

HERE IS ONE FINAL TASK THAT YOU MAY DO IN ORDER TO COVER THE FOUR SKILLS YOU SHOULD FOCUS ON WHEN LEARNING A LANGUAGE: LISTENING, READING, SPEAKING AND WRITING.

Write a composition and leave it in the blog as a comment to Session 1, I will edit it in the blog so that everybody can learn from other people´s opinions. Choose one of the following topics:

1. EXPRESS YOUR OPINION: The use of the Internet is the most dangerous for teenagers and it should be banned.

2. Write about the different kinds of bullying that you think take place in your country, e.g. bullying at school, in the office, in the army, online, etc.

2 comments:

  1. After reading this text, we can observe two of the most extended words nowadays, sex and violence, working as magnets which attract attention of most of people. But there are other important ingredients in this cocktail as new technologies, globalization and loss of moral values which give a new dimension to this kind of childish pranks.

Probably, all of us can remember cruel situations at school when some students played jokes or laughed at other weaker classmates. Those kind of bad students have always existed but now they can use new technologies as mobile phones, the internet, etc like powerful weapons capable of causing a lot of damages in young people.

Maybe because of TV and being spoilt at home, youngsters exceed all kind of limits, for example they can hit a homeless man and use YouTube to show their feat just for pleasure. Talking about sexting, some young people don’t respect their classmates or friends, even a former girlfriend, and they don’t care to use private photos, in this case sex photos, only because it is supposed to be very funny.

Of course, families and authorities have to work together and try to find a solution to these new problems.

  2. Should Internet be banned from teenagers? Recent studies have said that the use of the Internet by teenagers is a way to suffer mistreatment of somebody. However, despite of that teenagers don’t seem conscious of the serious problem it could become.

Firstly, I do not think the Internet should be banned because it offers us a lot of advantages against its problems. For instance, you can know the main news, research any information you need, connect you with other people.

Secondly, who is able to bull a person can use other instruments in case that the Internet was banned. So, the main problem is not the Internet, the main problem is who enjoys attacking, despising and losing respect for anybody.

In conclusion, I believe the Internet should not be banned, because if that were banned, then probably we will change the word “sexting” by another word, but the facts would be still happening.
